Prayer Requests – August 22 - August 29, 2008

PLEASE BE IN PRAYER DAILY THROUGHOUT

THIS WEEK

Keep this prayer list in a place where you will see it and be reminded to pray!

The Pastor of MAGNOLIA PARK METHODIST CHURCH

in Burbank, California has bone cancer.

BOB COLE, brother of Mrs. Jones, may have walking pneumonia

according to his doctor. Bob is asking for our prayers.

Sue Felten reports that Cookie’s mom is back in the hospital…

on IV’s to keep her hydrated. Every time she comes home from

the hospital she starts vomiting severely and becomes dehydrated.

Reverend Robert Taylor Update

Dad went through the surgery and has just been released

again to home. He’s still not allowed to do anything but rest

and he’s not feeling well like he did a couple months back, but

he’s healing now in Jesus’ name. – (Daughter, Tabitha)

Sue Felten’s friend’s (Roberta Whitmore) mother fell down her spiral stairs and landed on the tile floor below back of head…bad concusion.

Lynnette Lowe – Canyon Country, California

Pray for my granddaughter Jackie and her daughter Amy.

Jennie Thomas Sylmar, California

Pray for Kimberly, Lynn and Vickie Moore (Needs not specified)

Joyce Weller Sunland, California

Pray for our son (Aaron) who is in a custody battle for his daughter.

PRAYER

God help us to realize that YOU are our anchor in the storms of life, our example at all times and in every situation, our fortress and our shield, and that the burden of responsibility for all of our actions lies with us. We move…You do not! Help us to run quickly to Your cross when the burdens are too heavy to bear and confusion reigns. Help us to understand that this is not a sign of weakness, but rather of wisdom and good understanding…mental and moral strength. Amen!

From Denise Dennard Novi, Michigan

A lady by the name of Margaret is asking prayer for her son (Evan) who was

recently deployed to Iraq. Denise is not sure about Margaret’s relationship with

the Lord and asks prayer for God’s grace and wisdom to talk to her about Jesus.

Pastor Timothy Yap – Cagayan de Oro City, PHILIPPINES

Pray for a new TV ministry that God has opened for them. Also, there is the

need for a motor bike for them to use in getting the Gospel out to the

tribal people…places where a vehicle cannot go. Give if you can!

From Sue Felten Laguna Niguel, California

This is for Cindy who writes: “I stopped taking my medication last Friday in preparation for my radioactive iodine treatment on 9/02. I’m not feeling too bad, yet. My doc took me off work effective 8/27. He expects me to be REALLY tired and rundown, which includes my bowels, unfortunately.

From Carol Pickens Detroit, Michigan

Her mom’s only living sibling passed away and was buried on August 16. They had a break in at their home. All of this caused her mom to have an anxiety attack and sent her to emergency. She had another attack on the 20th while at dialysis. As if that wasn’t enough, Carol’s father (age 75 and suffering with dementia) fell and broke his shoulder. Carol adds: “I am mentally and physically tired. I missed church. I have little desire to go. It feels like God is a million miles away and still not interested in me. People see me as strong, but honestly, I wouldn’t mind going home to be with the Lord. I’m tired!”

Jerry & Carol Pryde Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada

We just had a visitor from England. She came with us to the West Virginia hills and loved it. She got the Gospel, and we’re praying for her salvation. She’s a true seeker; so keep Katrina in prayer.

From Sue Felten Laguna Niguel, California

My brother, Peck (real name Gregory), my Mom (Betty) and Brother (Bruce) are in dire need of your prayers. The doctor has found a “black spot” on Peck’s liver and referred him to a cancer doctor…appointment pending. Needless to say, my Mom is a wreck. She knows the Lord, as my brother Peck (52) does, but she has lost her eldest son (Artie) in 2002 and is struggling with the emotions of that and now her next two eldest sons illnesses. My brother Bruce (53) could also use prayer as he has had massive “shakes” – uncontrollable in hands and head and they may have to drill a hole in his skull to relieve pressure that may be causing the shakes. Bruce needs to draw closer to the Lord. He knows who He is (from our Catholic upbringing) but I’m not so sure He is his Lord and Savior. All of my siblings live in New Jersey and Delaware. Please pray for both my parents, Dave & Betty for strength to persevere. We are going back East (August 26-September 10)) on vacation to pray and encourage our family in this season.

From Mark Hundley – Living in the Mean Times Ministry

Brian & June Weery – Brian has been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer that has metastasized to his blood stream creating tumors in his liver and brain as well as the lungs. Brian has been released to go home and will follow a radiation treatment regimen followed by chemo. The outlook is not good!

Literature, Sermon CD’s, Sermon Tapes and Bible Commentaries by Dr. Jones are available. Feel free to contact him by phone or e-mail: his2u@charter.net

REMEMBER: But for the grace of God, there go I. Ask GOD to help us all to never judge a person by outward appearance. Everyone is hurting in some way. Everyone has challenges. Everyone has baggage. Let us pray with all the compassion of the Savior to love those unloved, or less loved, those who stumble and struggle down life’s pathway, lonely and hurting. And, don’t forget the cup of cold water in HIS name. Compassion will put you in the other person’s shoes and you will feel how great and painful is their lot in life. And, remember “love covers the multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). You’ve gotta believe! Else why pray?

Your Help Needed!

Pastor and Mrs. Jones are involved in a project that benefits “The Ronald McDonald House”. We need you to save the tabs from your aluminum cans. They are worth $1.00 each to help “The Ronald McDonald House” provide housing for families with children being treated for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Enlist those you know to help us. Our goal is to collect 20,000 within the next twelve months. Bring them to our study meetings or mail them to Pastor & Mrs. Jones: 1210 N. Orchard Dr., Burbank, California 91506-1110. WE CAN DO THIS! A beach is made of single grains of tiny sand. Help for families with seriously (often terminally ill) children is made up of tiny little aluminum tabs from canned drinks. WE CAN DO THIS! (If you would count your tabs and put them in a “baggie” that would be helpful. And, don’t hesitate to ask family and friends all over the place to get involved (either getting them to our study group members) or by mailing them directly to Pastor & Mrs. Jones. TOGETHER WE CAN REACH THIS GOAL! UPDATE: A box of pull tabs arrived from Dr. Jones’ sister (Linda in Mississippi). It contained 7,018 tabs! To date, we are approaching the 9,000 tabs collected figure. Can we reach 20,000 before the Rotary year ends (June 30, 2010)? It sure looks good, doesn’t it? Thank you for your help!

WHO TO PRAY FOR

Some Important Thoughts on Prayer

This is being carried over…for obvious reasons!

ALWAYS stop…on the spot…to pray for someone – or situation – when the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray. Often, these promptings come from “out of the blue” with no apparent reason. Just pray…RIGHT THEN!

ALWAYS act immediately when someone comes to your mind and you feel a sense of being concerned for them. It may be someone you don’t even know, but about whom you have heard.

Pray for your president and all who control the decision-making process in our country. We’re all affected by their decisions.

Pray for your pastor and church leaders, and all who are boldly declaring the Gospel, those who feed your soul and care for you.

Pray for divine guidance in all of your decisions.

Pray for divine guidance in how you invest the money God blesses you with.

JUST PRAY! Pray…believing…nothing wavering! GOD IS LISTENING! He still answers prayer. So, child of God…PRAY ON!

ANNOUNCEMENT

Pastor & Mrs. Jones will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary on September 24th.

They would like to take a trip to Mississippi to visit Pastor’s family as soon as he is

physically strong enough to put in ten days behind the wheel. Would you pray about

this, and if you feel led to help them make such a trip it would mean so much.
